Fans of Spanish club vote to end Diego Costa’s Chelsea stay

An ongoing poll run by Spanish source Marca indicates that Atletico Madrid fans would be keen to see Chelsea‘s Diego Costa return to the club as a replacement for Jackson Martinez.

Costa left Atleti in 2014, having won the Spanish title, two Uefa Super Cups and the Copa del Rey during his time with the Spanish heavyweights, while also guiding Diego Simeone’s side to the final of the Champions League—which they ultimately lost to rivals Real Madrid.

Costa’s form in the Spanish capital took him to London, and Chelsea, where he won the Premier League in his first season.

However, since then his form has declined and the Spanish international has become something of a pariah at Stamford Bridge. He was booed ahead of Chelsea’s recent victory over Sunderland, and has been tipped for a move away from west London.

Marca have polled their readers on whether they’d welcome Costa back at the expense of current forward Martinez, who has been linked to Chelsea.

At the time of writing, over 60% of readers are keen on a return for Costa.
