Diego Costa banned: Chelsea star out vs Man United after 5th yellow card

Posted by

Even during the best game of his season, Diego Costa can’t stay out of trouble. Prior to his performance for Chelsea against Watford Costa had already received the yellow card four times as well as a suspension for his behavior in the Blues match against Arsenal. Unfortunately for Costa, his fifth yellow card could prove to be the most costly.

Mere minutes after scoring his second goal of the day in a 2-2 draw against Watford – his first brace of the 2015-16 season – Costa drew the yellow card for diving at an opposing player. As a result of accumulation, Costa will be banned for Chelsea’s critical match against Manchester United next week.

Costa has been a far cry from the near-unstoppable scoring machine that propelled the Blues to the Premier League title last season, but he seems to have finally returned to form since Jose Mourinho was ousted and replaced by Guus Hiddink.

Though the Blues were unable to take the lead late against Watford due to a massive missed penalty kick  by Oscar, the team looks revitalized – and with any luck Costa will continue to maintain his renewed form when he returns.
