Journalist tips Jose Mourinho to be next Man United boss

While many Manchester United fans are hoping and praying that Jose Mourinho takes over as manager in place of Louis van Gaal, very little evidence has emerged to suggest that such a move will happen. However, one Spanish journalist appears to have reported that news that everyone in Manchester wants to hear.

According to El Chiringuito journalist Pipi Estrada, Mourinho to Man United will happen next week and a deal has already been reached. The statement by Estrada was made within minutes of Louis van Gaal announcing that fans will have to “wait and see” if he is still the manager when the club takes on Chelsea in a few days.

Mourinho led Chelsea to the Premier League and League Cup titles in the 2014-15 season, but their title defenses in the 2015-16 season got off to a difficult start. Chelsea claimed just 15 points in their first 16 Premier League fixtures – the worst start to a title defence in league history – and were eliminated in the League Cup tournament in just their second match. As a result, Mourinho was fired earlier this month.

It would be hard for the Man United higher-ups to both fire Van Gaal and hire Mourinho in the mere hours the club has before they take on Chelsea this Monday, so the chances of Mourinho coaching against his former team in 2015 remains understandably slim.
