Record breaking striker to be handed £80,000 deal to ward off Chelsea interest

Premier League leaders Leicester City are set to offer striker Jamie Vardy a double-your-money offer of £80,000-per-week to ward off any potential offer from the likes of Chelsea, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Mirror states that the 28-year-old has already emerged as a £30million target for the Blues after his goalscoring form has helped push the Foxes to the summit of the table.

And now the club are looking to tie him down to a new deal that would see him double his money to earn a stunning £80,000-per-week and extend his stay beyond the end of the current campaign.

Vardy penned a new £40,000-per-week deal at the King Power Stadium back in 2014, and that contract currently has two-and-a-half years left to run.

But with Chelsea in the hunt for new options up front, there is a fear that the lure of a big money contract and Champions League football could be enough to tempt him away from the East Midlands.
