Tottenham chasing prolific £29m Serie A striker in January

Tottenham are reportedly in the hunt to sign Sassuolo star Domenico Berardi, but will face competition from Juventus for the Italian striker.

The 21-year-old has established himself as a key part of the Neroverdi side under Eusebio Di Francesco, scoring 44 goals in 100 appearances to help the club continue to emerge as a top-half Serie A team.

However, it appears as though his good form could prove to be the possible start of their downfall as the Italian international has attracted interest from around Europe, with Spurs also now said to be monitoring his situation.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Spurs are taking ‘concrete steps to invest in Italy as they did in the [Erik] Lamela deal’.

Nevertheless, while the opportunity to move to the Premier League could be of interest to Berardi, Juventus have a buy-back option in his contract to sign him for around €25m which is sure to put a spanner in Mauricio Pochettino’s works.

With Sassuolo pushing for a place in Europe, and with a spot at Euro 2016 in the Azzurri squad at stake, Berardi will undoubtedly hope to avoid his future becoming a distraction during what is a crucial season for him and the club.

However, it appears as though it could be his final few months at Sassuolo given Juventus have reportedly made it clear that they are keen on taking him back.
