Chelsea Predicted XI vs Manchester United: Hiddink forced into tactical re-think

Posted by

Chelsea travel to face Manchester United on Monday evening with Guus Hiddink still looking for his first win since taking temporary charge of the club.

The veteran tactician saw his side held to a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge on Saturday against Watford, although he will have been buoyed by the general performance from the players.

Diego Costa ended his goalscoring woes with a brace, but the Spaniard will not travel to Manchester after picking up a fifth yellow card against the Hornets, which in turn sees him sit out due to suspension this time round.

As a result, Hiddink will be forced into a tactical or personnel reshuffle on Monday, with many expecting him to move Eden Hazard into a false number nine role with the likes of Pedro, Oscar and Willian providing support for him in the final third.

However, the absence of Costa will undoubtedly be a blow for the visitors, particularly given that he would have taken plenty of confidence away from scoring twice.

As for the rest of the team, the Premier League champions are likely to remain relatively unchanged barring any late injury news, as they continue to try and battle to salvage something from their campaign.

The Blues remain just two points above the relegation zone after their disastrous start to the season, and Hiddink will certainly be under pressure to ensure that things improve in the coming weeks despite only being appointed on an interim basis.
