Arsenal planning to sacrifice striking talent to snap up Barcelona transfer target

Arsenal are planning to thwart Barcelona‘s hopes of bringing Nolito to the Camp Nou by offering Joel Campbell to Celta Vigo in part exchange.

The Central American has taken huge strides at the Emirates Stadium in recent weeks, having previously looking like he’d come to the end of the road in north London.

He’s made the most of injuries to his teammates, and has scored twice in nine Premier League outings for the Gunners—who currently sit in first place in the division.

However, despite his encouraging showings, the 23-year-old clearly hasn’t done enough to earn Arsene Wenger’s faith, with The Sun reporting that the French coach would be willing to offload the Costa Rican in order to bring Nolito to the club.

The tabloid note that the Gunners have held initial talks to sign the Celta attacker, who has scored eight goals in 15 outings in La Liga so far this season.

However, any hopes Arsenal had of bringing the 29-year-old to London may depend on whether Barca make concrete their mooted interest in the player.

Encouragingly for Arsenal, Mundo Deportivo reported earlier this month that Barcelona have been cooling on the player due to his hefty price tag, which may well open the door for a move to the Emirates Stadium and an exit for Campbell.
