Video: Benteke misses easiest chance he’ll ever get for second game in a row

Ask Christian Benteke to score a goal in the clutch and he’ll often deliver – ask Benteke to score a goal when he has nothing but the goalkeeper in his way and he’ll find a way to miss. That has been the theme of Christian Benteke’s performance for Liverpool over the past two matches and Reds fans are likely shaking their fists at how easy some of his misses have been.

Having already scored the ultimately game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Sunderland on Wednesday, Christian Benteke was given a chance at a second goal with an easy scoring chance that even a teenager likely would have been able to convert into a goal.

Instead, this happened:

The deflection by goalkeeper Vito Mannone was nearly identical to the save made by Leicester City’s goalkeeper in Match Day 18, in another 1-0 win in which Benteke also scored the game-winning goal earlier in the contest.

There’s something about the easy goals that turns Benteke from a scoring genius into a rookie… Whatever it is, it would behoove Benteke to get it fixed as soon as possible.
