Liverpool target & South American forward wanted by Serie A high-flyers

Olympique de Marseille forward Lucas Ocampos has emerged as a transfer target for Serie A side Fiorentina.

The wideman spent time last season on loan at Marseille from parent club AS Monaco, and completed a permanent deal during the summer after impressing during his temporary spell.

However, his form at the Stade Velodrome since the move has been sub-standard—Ocampos has managed just five starts in Ligue 1 this season (coming on as a substitute on 10 occasions), scoring once and contributing one assist.

Despite his unconvincing form, ESPN [via Le 10 Sport] reported on Wednesday that Paulo Sousa and high-flying Fiorentina have emerged as suitors for the player, and may look to loan the youngster in January before buying him outright at the end of the season—much as OM did last term.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Viola will face competition from Liverpool.

The Telegraph linked the Anfield heavyweights with a move for the player during the summer under previous boss Brendan Rodgers. Nothing came of those rumours back then, but with Ocampos set to be on the move once again, will new Reds coach Jurgen Klopp look to pick up where Brendan left off?
