Chelsea offer cut-price striker to Premier League rivals

Chelsea have reportedly offered Premier League strugglers Newcastle United the opportunity to re-sign former striker Loic Remy this month on loan for the remainder of the season, according to the Newcastle Chronicle.

With Papiss Cesse rumoured to be out for the next three months with a groin injury, the Magpies will need to consider bringing in another striker to help fire them up the table to safety this month.

Cisse, alongside Ayoze Perez and Aleksandar Mitrovic have managed just 10 goals between them so far this term, meaning manager Steve McClaren will be on the lookout for more firepower during the January window.

However, Newcastle may face some competition for the Frenchman’s signature in the form of Crystal Palace, who are also believed to be keen on prizing him away from Stamford Bridge before the window closes.

Remy feature for now Palace boss Alan Pardew at Newcastle in 2013/14, where he bagged 14 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions, and the manager is keen to work with the 29-year-old again at Selhurst Park.
