Birmingham City youngster Demarai Gray is set to complete his transfer to Leicester City on Monday according to reputed journalist Darren Lewis.

Writing on his Twitter handle @MirrorDarren, the Mirror journalist has confirmed that the wonderkid will be confirmed as a Leicester player imminently.

While the news will be warmly received at the King Power Stadium, with the high-flying Foxes set to acquire one of the most highly rated youngsters in the English game, Everton and Liverpool may regret missing out on the forward.

The Mirror [via the Birmingham Mail] reported over the weekend that the Foxes had triggered the £3.75 million release clause in the player’s Birmingham contact, and while the tabloid noted that Everton had also considered matching the bid, Leicester look set to get their man.

Liverpool are also understood to be keen on the player; back in December, Bleacher Report revealed that the Reds had acquired the first option to buy the player, however, they appear to have held their guns and allowed Leicester to swoop in to sign the talented youngster.

The move represents something of a coup for Claudio Ranieri’s side, with the Metro noting at the end of 2015 that Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton were all also interested in the wonderkid forward.
