Man United to spark transfer scramble as LVG confirms midfield star will be allowed to leave this month

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is set to allow midfielder Nick Powell leave the club on loan this month with six clubs reported to be interested in his signature, according to the Daily Star.

Championship side Preston North End are believed to be the favourites to snap him up until the end of the season, after van Gaal admitted that it would be unlikely the 21-year-old would see much more first team action this term.

Powell is regarded as one of the brightest young talents in the country at the moment, but he has struggled for regular game time since making the switch to Old Trafford back in 2012.

however, if the move to Preston doesn’t work out, the Star is claiming that there are five other Championship clubs keen on bringing him on board and are all ready to battle it out for his services.

Powell has already spent two loan spells away from United in recent years, spending time with both Wigan Athletic and Leicester City.
