Man United transfer roundup: Neymar, manager snub, Mane move

Posted by

It took some heart-pounding heroics from Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney to get it done but Manchester United finally ended their 8-game winless run to get three points in a 2-1 win over Swansea City. The win certainly poured a little bit of cold water onto Louis van Gaal’s seat and sets the club up for a January spending spree with plenty of high-profile targets available.

From megastars like Neymar to Mane, there are plenty of options for the Red Devils to pursue in order to help what has been a mostly frustrating team on offense.

Here is the Man United transfer roundup for Sunday:

Man Utd to trigger Neymar release clause

In a late report from the Metro, it was revealed that Man United are planning to pay the astronomical £140 million release clause in Neymar’s contract at Barcelona to bring him to Old Trafford in the summer. Such a move would likely upset the balance of power both in the Premier League and La Liga. Neymar is a Ballon d’Or finalist with over 200 career goals.

£62.5m for Sadio Mane

The Sun reported that Man United are ready to spend as much as £62.5 million for Southampton star forward Sadio Mane. The deal would reportedly include a £30 million transfer fee and a five-year deal paying over £125,000-per-week. Mane has three goals and six assists in the Premier League this season and scored 10 for the Saints last season.

Jose Mourinho to snub Old Trafford, return to Real Madrid

Despite having a golden opportunity to stick it to his former employers at Chelsea, Man United managerial target Jose Mourinho appears to be headed to Spain for a return to Real Madrid. [Source: Metro]
