Speaking to Sky Sports on the Sunday Supplement, the panelist revealed that he was far from impressed with the names mentioned with a move to Old Trafford, compared to those that eventually arrive.

United have previously been linked with moves for the likes of Neymar and Gareth Bale in recent months, but the club has failed to sign the big names and have instead had to settle for younger talented individuals such as Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial.

While that may well tie in with their plans to build for the future, it hasn’t helped their current situation on the pitch with coach Louis van Gaal fighting through a difficult period of his tenure in Manchester.

Having ended an eight-game winless streak in all competitions with the victory over Swansea City on Saturday, it remains to be seen whether or not the Dutchman can now inspire his side to put together a consistent run to get them back into contention for the Premier League title.

However, Law has conceded that he expects another disappointing transfer window in January, with United likely to be liked with various high-profile names only to let their supporters down with alternatives.

Although at the time of writing it appears as though the transfer policy at the club has been a “disaster”, United remain nine points adrift of league leaders Arsenal and could yet have their say in the title race given the inconsistency across the board so far this season.
