Chelsea & Euro giants to compete with Man City for exquisite international playmaker

Manchester City may need to see off considerable competition if they are to sign Real Madrid playmaker Isco in the January transfer window.

The Citizens have been credited with a long-standing interest in the playmaker, not least because of the presence of Manuel Pellegrini, who worked with the Spain international earlier in his career at Malaga.

Despite recently adding Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling to his bulging ranks of attacking midfielders, Pellegrini is understood to remain keen on adding more offensive and creative players to his ranks, with the Mirror noting that the Chilean coach is plotting a £30 million move for the 23-year-old.

Isco has been in and out of the side under recently dismissed coach Rafael Benitez so far this season, making just 13 league appearances—of which nine were starts—since the beginning of the campaign.

While the player may relish a reunion with Pellegrini—a manager who was so influential in his early development—the Sky Blues face competition for his signature.

The Mirror [via the Daily Star] note that Juventus are keen on signing the player on loan before making the move permanent in the summer, while Chelsea are also eyeing the player, and are understood to be weighing up a summer move for the technical master.
