Manchester United transfer target sparks rumours after tweet

Lazio star Felipe Anderson has raised further questions about his future in the Italian capital after tweeting about ‘new opportunities’ in 2016.

The Brazilian ace has been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks, as reported by the Metro, with the Premier League giants offering £35m to acquire him.

While media outlets in Italy have suggested that the Biancocelesti will reject any bids in January in favour of waiting until the summer to discuss Anderson’s future, it remains to be seen whether or not their resolve is broken with such a substantial bid.

Nevertheless, Anderson has added fuel to the fire by taking to Twitter on Monday to insist: ‘New year, new opportunities. I’m ready.”

Given that the image included in the tweet was of the 22-year-old training with Lazio, it may well have been with the intention of insisting that he will work hard to establish himself at the Stadio Olimpico by proving to coach Stefano Pioli that he deserves a regular spot in the starting lineup.

However, it has been naturally been translated as being a subtle suggestion that he could be set for a ‘new opportunity’ elsewhere as speculation continues to build about his future.

Louis van Gaal has already spent significant money on young talents with the likes of Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial joining in the summer, and Anderson certainly fits the mould of what the Dutch tactician is building at Old Trafford.
