Francesco Totti’s wife Ilari Blasi has suggested that the Roma legend could be about to hang up his boots ahead of schedule due to an injury setback, the Daily Mirror reports.

Having spent the past three months on the sidelines with a thigh problem and had been expected back in time to face Chievo, only for manager Rudi Garcia to claim that he would not be ready to take part.

And now Blasi, a popular TV host in Italy, has hinted that the 39-year-old is thinking about drawing a close on his 24-year career.

“The time has come. Francesco is going to be 40 next year,” she said. “He has enjoyed all this so much that I really think that right now he is desiring something else. But he will remain involved in football for sure.”

Totti made his debut for Roma back in 1992 and has remained with the club ever since, going on to make an incredible 746 appearances across all competitions, which has been enhanced with a stunning 300 goals and 187 assists.
