Liverpool fans rejoice as Joe Allen contract talks hit the skids

Liverpool midfielder Joe allen has seen his future thrown into doubt after talks over a proposed new contract have stalled, the Daily Express reports.

Former manager Brendan Rodgers had began initial talks to keep the Wales international at Anfield beyond his current deal, but since his sacking back in October talks have died up and the player himself has admitted that he is now playing for his future.

And with just 18 months remaining on his contract, Allen appears to be out of favour under Jurgen Klopp and has made just one Premier League start this term (via Express).

Allen played a starring role in the club’s 1-0 win over Stoke in the Capital One Cup semi-final this week, but admitted that he isn’t sure where he stands in terms of a new deal.

“That’s gone very quiet,” the midfielder said on the contract talks. “I’m not too sure really,” he said.

“I’ve only made one league start this season, so I want to play more. I think that’s obvious for any player in that situation.”
