Man United transfer news: Red Devils reject four bids for Van Gaal-entrusted youngster

Manchester United have reportedly knocked back four offers for young defender Paddy McNair.

According to The Times, the Red Devils have rejected loan bids for the Northern Ireland international from Championship clubs Fulham, Blackburn Rovers, Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Times adds that United manager Louis van Gaal is keen to keep the versatile 20-year-0ld, who signed a new long-term contract at Old Trafford in February, around his first-team squad.

McNair has made six appearances in the Premier League this campaign, three of which have come as starts. United have lost only one of those matches – their 2-1 defeat away at Bournemouth.

In an ideal situation, Van Gaal may want to send McNair away for more regular football, but the Dutchman seemingly feels that United’s injury situation means that he cannot afford to let him go.

Neither defenders Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo or Antonio Valencia have played since November, and Phil Jones has a sketchy fitness record which has limited him to only seven starts this season.
