Arsenal open contract talks with resurgent winger

Arsenal are believed to have opened talks with winger Joel Campbell about signing new £60,000-per-week to stay at the club despite recent speculation linking him with an exit from the club, the Daily Star reports.

Turkish giants Galatasaray have been heavily linked with a move for the Costa Rican international after he initially struggled to make headway into the first team. However, thanks to the Gunners’ recent injury problems, he has been drafted in and has impressed with his performances.

And it now seems that his extended spell in the senior side has put him in line for an extended deal with the club, with The Star now reporting that talks have already begun about putting him on a bumper wage packet.

The 23-year-old is out of contract at the end of the current season, and there could be a chance that the Gunners are moving to tie him down to a new contract in order not to lose him for nothing over the summer.
