Details emerge of ‘furious’ Chelsea training ground bust-up; club comments on ‘punches’ rumour

Reports have emerged of an altercation between Chelsea stars Diego Costa and Oscar at the club’s training session on Thursday.

According to the Mirror, the Spanish striker was incensed when he received what he deemed as an overly zealous tackle from Oscar, and proceeded to square up to the Brazil international.

The tabloid note that there was a ‘particularly hefty’ tackle which made contact with Costa’s knee, and while the striker was infuriated by Oscar’s act—and proceeded to chase the midfielder—the club have reportedly denied the suggestion that punches were thrown between the pair.

However, there was some retaliation on the part of Costa, who later left his own mark on Oscar by attacking the player with what the Mirror describe as an ‘ugly lunge’.

The tabloid note—perhaps understandably—that Oscar had bitten off more than he could chew, and was left the worse off of the pair following the dual tackles.

While the pair are understood to have made amends, the incident is further evidence of a lingering discontent behind the scenes at Chelsea, who are in the midst of a particularly troubled campaign.

While Costa has improved his performances following the departure of Jose Mourinho and the arrival of Guus Hiddink, the striker’s latest controversy may well see him edge closer to the exit door at Stamford Bridge.

Atletico Madrid have already had one offer for their former striker rejected—according to the Mirror—and Diego Simeone may see this latest story as further encouragement to try and sign the forward once again.
