Arsenal plotting transfer raid for Nigerian striking sensation

Arsenal are weighing up a move to sign Watford‘s striking sensation Odion Ighalo according to reports.

The Daily Mail noted on Friday evening that the Gunners are captivated by the forward’s performances, and are understood to have made him one of their top transfer targets ahead of a summer swoop.

The north London heavyweights have been linked to a series of frontmen in recent weeks, with the likes of Chicharito [Daily Star], Troy Deeney [talkSPORT] and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang [Sky Sports] all tipped for a  move to the Emirates Stadium.

However, perhaps none of the above represents as ideal a fit for the Premier League heavyweights as Ighalo, who is currently demonstrating—on a consistent basis—that he can be a lethal proposition in the top flight.

The attacker shone as Watford sealed promotion back to the EPL from the Championship last season and in tandem with Deeney, has impressed again this term, managing 14 goals to date as the Hornets—potential relegation candidates—have found themselves in the top half of the table after 20 matches.

As well as the aforementioned forwards, Austin Amutu [AfricanFootball.com] and Ante Budimir [Standard] have also been tipped for a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent weeks.
