Chelsea target given green light to join Premier League giants

Shakhtar Donetsk coach Mircea Lucescu has conceded that he won’t stand in the way of Alex Teixeira leaving the club either in January or the summer.

Chelsea have been linked with the Brazilian in recent months, as noted by The Daily Mail, and although his coach has insisted that the Ukrainian outfit have yet to receive any official bids, he expects him to be in demand over the next six months.

Lucescu has been responsible for the development of a number of players that have gone on to join various top European clubs including the likes of Luiz Adriano and Douglas Costa, and believes Teixeira will be the next to make a similar impact.

“If there is an offer that will satisfy both player and the club I will fully support his move,” said Lucescu, as reported by Sky Sports.

“At the moment, Alex is Shakhtar’s player. We’ll see in the summer, now there’s no point talking about it. This year, he needs to play so that he grows even more, despite the fact that Alex’s level is very high even today.

“I want to see my players perform in the best, top teams in Europe. This means that both my assistants and I have not been working in vain for so many years.”

Chelsea have previously done business with Shakhtar after signing Willian in 2013, and the Premier League champions will hope that they can enjoy similarly productive negotiations with the Ukrainian giants in the coming months if their interest in Teixeira is serious.
