Jeremain Lens goal video v Arsenal: Awful gaffe from ‘best centre-back in Prem’ gifts Sunderland lead

Posted by

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry reckons that Gunners defender Laurent Koscielny is the best centre-back in the Premier League, as the Daily Mail reports.

Are you sure mate? The Frenchman has just made a shocking error to gift Sunderland the lead in their FA Cup third-round tie at the Emirates Stadium.

Koscielny tried to dance his way around Jeremain Lens on the edge of his own box and was tackled by the Sunderland forward, who finished smartly past Petr Cech.

Yes, Kieran Gibbs played his colleague into trouble, but Koscielny should never have taken such a risk on the ball in a dangerous area, and he was punished for it.

Nobody is too good just to smash it clear – not even if you play for Arsenal – but Koscielny was let off the hook by Joel Campbell cancelling out the 17th-minute opener.

Arsene Wenger’s side are looking to become the first team to lift the FA Cup in three consecutive seasons since Blackburn Rovers managed that feat during the 1880s.
