EXCLUSIVE: Mourinho set for surprise return after Euro giants sack manager & Manchester United make Giggs pick

Posted by

Jose Mourinho could be set to return to his former club FC Porto as he bides his time until another job emerges, Caught Offside understand.

The former Chelsea manager has been out of work since being dismissed from Stamford Bridge by Roman Abramovich in December, and despite being linked to a host of major jobs, the coach is yet to get back into work.

AS Roma—for whom Rudi Garcia is grossly inconsistent in Serie A—have been linked with the iconic manager, while Paris Saint-Germain are understood to be keen on bringing the former Inter Milan boss to the Parc des Princes.

Real Madrid made Mourinho their first choice after sacking Rafael Benitez last week, but the Merengues were ultimately forced to turn to Zinedine Zidane after Mourinho rejected them, holding out for a switch back to the Premier League.

Revelations this week that Manchester United—Mourinho’s most likely choice in England—have given Ryan Giggs more control at the club, as power steadily ebbs away from Louis van Gaal, may finally convince the Portuguese coach that there is no job waiting for him at Old Trafford.

Caught Offside‘s sources understand that the recent managerial vacancy at Porto—who sacked Julen Lopetegui on Friday [BBC]—could convince Mourinho return to his former club until the end of the season, while he bides his time waiting for United, Manchester City or Arsenal to come calling.
