Premier League giants set to battle Real Madrid for £80m Chelsea playmaker to tempt Pep

Manchester City have become the latest side linked with a move for Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard, according to reports.

The Sun note that Manuel Pellegrini is considering a move for the attacking midfielder, and is looking to add the world-class star to the club’s burgeoning roster of Belgian players.

The report states that Hazard is valued at £80 million by the Pensioners, but that the Citizens will be willing to break the bank and bring in a superstar in order to help tempt Pep Guardiola to the Etihad Stadium next summer.

However, the Etihad Stadium heavyweights look set to face major competition in their hopes of signing the 25-year-old.

According to The Sun, Zinedine Zidane has been handed a £250 million war chest at Real Madrid to try and restore the Merengues’ former glory, and the tabloid note that the French great is targeting Paul Pogba and Hazard as part of a double transfer swoop.

Indeed, Zidane—as he revealed in an interview with Fifa.com in April 2015—is known to be a big admirer of the silky schemer.

Beyond Real, there is further considerable interest in the player from Manchester United [Daily Star], Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich [both Daily Mail], although Hazard’s father Thierry has revealed that his son is focused only on Chelsea at the present time [Het Nieuwsblad via the Daily Mail].
