Manchester United plotting Premier League raid to sign van Gaal replacement

Reports have emerged that Manchester United are plotting to make Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino the replacement for Louis van Gaal.

The Dutch coach appears to be losing his grip at Old Trafford following a miserable end to 2015; the Red Devils were eliminated in the first round of the Champions League following a final-match defeat to Wolfsburg and they’ve slipped out of the top four in the EPL following a wretched spell at the tail end of the last year.

The Sun reported earlier this week that Ryan Giggs had been given more training and matchday responsibilities at the club, as the Old Trafford hierarchy begin to lose faith in the Dutch manager, while Paul Scholes became the latest Red Devils great to slam the manager following the unimpressive, last-minute 1-0 victory over League One Sheffield United in the FA Cup [BT Sport as per the Mirror].

According to the Mirror, United see Pochettino—who has taken Spurs above United in the EPL—as the ideal solution to replace LVG at Old Trafford.

Beyond the Argentine manager, who has overseen a remarkable transformation at White Hart Lane, the tabloid note that Laurent Blanc is also being considered as a possible replacement for LVG, the current Paris Saint-Germain manager having previously represented the Red Devils.
