Chelsea plotting ambitious £60m transfer double swoop to solve striking woe

Chelsea are understood to be eyeing a move for AC Milan forward Carlos Bacca and advancing their attempts to sign Alex Teixeira in what would represent a remarkably ambitious transfer double swoop.

The Blues are in the midst of a nightmare campaign, and while results have picked up since the exit of Jose Mourinho in December, the west London side have not truly rediscovered their former verve.

They were colourless in attack during the 0-0 draw with Manchester United at the end of 2015, and were not wholly convincing as they overcame lower-league Scunthorpe in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Ahead of the resumption of Premier League action this week, the Pensioners sit 14th in the table, and have scored 26 goals—considerably fewer than their rivals at the top of the table, with the only exception of toothless Manchester United.

Diego Costa has failed to hit the heights of his maiden campaign despite a recent upturn in form, and according to recent reports, the Blues are set to spend big to remedy their attacking deficiencies.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport [via the Express], Chelsea are preparing to pay an eye-watering £30 million to bring AC Milan forward Carlos Bacca to Stamford Bridge.

The Colombian only moved to the San Siro during the summer, but is already being considered by Chelsea, who may need to see off interest from Paris Saint-Germain to bag the frontman.

Bacca has scored nine in 21 for the Rossoneri so far this season.

As well as being linked with a move for the former Sevilla hitman, the west Londoners are also closing in on a deal to sign Alex Teixeira.

Football Insider via the Daily Star note that the reigning champions have offered the player a contract, and are now waiting for Shakhtar Donetsk to accept their bid for the £30 million-rated frontman.
