Manchester United plotting ‘sensational’ £30m transfer raid for classy wonderkid

Manchester United are lining up an eye-watering bid to sign AC Milan wonderkid Gianluigi Donnarumma, according to reports in Italy.

Mediaset Predium [via the Express] note that Louis van Gaal is keen to sign the 16-year-old goalkeeper, and is preparing a remarkable £30 million bid to sign the youngster, who was almost unheard of six months ago.

Indeed, so surprising and ambitious is United’s planned bid, that the Express have gone so far as to describe it as ‘sensational’!

The teenager hasn’t looked back since Sinisa Mihajlovic opted to axe previous Number One Diego Lopez and replace him with the untested Donnarumma early in Milan’s Serie A campaign.

The youngster took to the top flight immediately, demonstrating his aptitude for elite football with a series of composed and unruffled appearances.

To date, he has made 11 outings in the Italian top flight, keeping three clean sheets, and will be hoping to see the Rossoneri into the Coppa Italia final imminently; the Lombardy heavyweights face second-bottom Carpi on Wednesday evening with the winner set to go head to head with either Serie B Spezia or third-tier Alessandria in the semi-finals.

According to the Express [as above], United would be willing to wait until the summer before bagging the keeper, who could be an ideal long-term replacement for David De Gea.
