Real Madrid legend plots audacious move to convince Neymar to join rivals

Former Real Madrid star Roberto Carlos has revealed that he will attempt to convince Barcelona ace Neymar to cross the rivalry and move to the capital.

The 42-year-old spent a highly successful spell of his career at the Bernabeu, and confirmed this week that he is in talks to join new boss Zinedine Zidane’s backroom staff.

Having made over 500 appearances for the club, Carlos has firmly established himself as a hero in Madrid and has revealed his plans to help the Spanish giants continue to dominate.

“I can take him [Neymar] to Real Madrid,” he told Punta Pelota. “He’s very young. I am sure next year he will finish even higher in the Ballon d’Or.”

Meanwhile, the former Brazilian international backed Zidane to be a success at the club, and specifically stated his belief that the French icon can help take Gareth Bale’s game to the next level to ensure that the Welshman is on par with his peers and rivals for the Ballon d’Or in the future.

Zidane replaced former boss Rafael Benitez last week, and got off to the perfect start as he watched his side seal a 5-0 win over Deportivo at the weekend.

Ahead of their clash with Sporting Gijon this weekend, Madrid remain in third place in the La Liga table as they continue to try and chase down rivals Barca and Atletico Madrid who continue to set the pace at the top of the standings.

Nevertheless, coupled with Carlos arriving at the club, the atmosphere at the Bernabeu has certainly improved since Benitez departed, although some will remain unconvinced by Zidane until the team win consistently both at home and in the Champions League.
