Arsenal face missing out on Edinson Cavani move thanks to Real Madrid ban

Arsenal could face the serious possibility of missing out on a move for Paris Saint Germain striker Edinson Cavani, according to reports in Spain.

The Gunners have been on the Uruguayan’s trail for some time now, and various reports had suggested that they were in pole position to land his signature should PSG decide to sanction a sale.

However, Real Madrid were handed a one-year transfer ban on Thursday afternoon, which could be about to throw a spanner into the works.

Real were being linked with a move for former striker Alvaro Morata, now at Juventus, and should the striker decide to head back to the Bernabeu, Juve would have then been clear to make a move for Cavani.

But the ban could mean that Real will have to move faster than anticipated as the ban won’t kick in until the end of the month, meaning that the daisy chain could completely bypass Arsenal unless they too act fast.
