Manchester United are said to be closing in on the signing of impressive Dynamo Kiev defender Aleksandar Dragovic, who will become the club’s first signing of the January transfer window, according to Sport Mediaset.
The 24-year-old has been on United’s radar for a year now, and came close to joining them last January, only for the move to fall through late on.
But reports in Europe are now suggesting that the move could finally go ahead now, and that a £16million deal to take the player to the Premier League is close to being completed and could be wrapped up at some point over the next 24 hours.
United have suffered defensively this season as injury and loss of form have taken hold of their back line, and van Gaal has sought out the Austrian international as a key component of a stronger, new look defender.
