Fifth takes on tenth as Burnley travel to the outskirts of West London to take on Brentford later tonight from the Championship.
Just 8 points separates the two sides in the table and both teams can make significant jumps in the table with a win, so the game could have a significant impact as the season makes its way into the second half.
Burnley can climb above a free falling Brighton side into fourth place with a win while Brentford can go as high as 8th, level on points with 7th place Sheffield Wednesday if they pick up three points.
The home side have shown some mixed recent form. They have lost their last three games, a 1-0 defeat to Walsall in the FA cup, sandwiched in between league defeats to Birmingham and Middlesbrough.
The Bees have scored just three goals in their last four games however prior to their recent set-backs they had picked up 10 points from a possible 12 and had lost just two of their previous 12 games.
At home they have now lost back to back games for the first time since September following the defeats to Walsall and Middlesbrough however you have to go back to 2007 for the last time they lost three in a row at home.
Burnley meanwhile are currently on a run of four wins and a draw from their last six games in all competitions. Their only defeat came at the hands of fellow playoff contenders, Hull while they managed to beat Middlesbrough 2-1 in the FA Cup last weekend.
Sean Dyche’s side turned on the style midweek as they hit the MK Dons for five with Joey Barton, Sam Vokes and Andre Gray among the goal scorers and there’s little doubt that an automatic promotion spot will be in the sights of Clarets fans.
Gray, who also claimed an assist, has now scored five goals in his last five games and will be the one to watch for the Clarets.
Defensively they are a tough team to break down, with the remarkable record of 5 clean sheets in their last seven games in the Championship, so Brentford really have a tough ask on their hands tonight.
Brentford have not beaten Burnley since 1997 and have lost their last two games against the Lancashire outfit.
It should prove to be an entertaining encounter with both these sides having a genuine chance of making it to the Premier League, and with that said, both managers would surely be happy to take a point.
