Chelsea star rushed to hospital after dramatic Premier League draw

Chelsea may have salvaged a point at home against Everton in the Premier League, but their efforts came at a cost following injury to Diego Costa.

According to The Sun, the Spain striker was rushed to hospital in the aftermath of the 3-3 thriller having picked up a shin injury during the match.

Speaking after the match [also via The Sun], Guus Hiddink appeared glum when discussing the striker’s situation, although admitted that he was yet to know the exact severity of the striker’s complaint nor the amount of time for which he might be deprived of the tenacious hitman.

“He is in the hospital now. And they will have a check now with a scan. We don’t know the result yet,” the Dutch manager began, as noted by the tabloid.

“It is on his shin he was in a lot of pain,” the 69-year-old continued. “We hope Diego is coming out of the hospital in good health and we will go on as are for the moment.”

While Costa endured a miserable start to the season under Mourinho—a far cry from the devastating presence he proved to be during the first half of his maiden season in England last term—his injury could end up costing Chelsea.

The striker has rediscovered his form in recent weeks, scoring five in five since Christmas, including an effort in the bout against Everton.

He’s also been something of a creative presence in January as well, and having only contributed one assist in the first half of the season, he’s already directly set up two goals since New Year’s Day.
