Louis van Gaal says Luke Shaw could make Man United return ahead of schedule

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has given some huge news on the injury front by claiming that Luke Shaw could make a return to action sooner than first thought, the Daily Mirror reports.

The youngster was ruled out for a lengthy spell after suffering a horrific leg break during his side’s Champions League group game with PSV Eindhoven back in September.

But the 20-year-old has stepped up his recovery process in recent weeks, and the manager has issued some welcome words on his progress.

“Shaw was with his surgeon and everything is going well,” he said.

“His bone is growing and that is very positive. He could return ahead of schedule, yes.

“But when I say that, then everybody thinks he is coming back within three months and it is not like that, you cannot say that. He needs time.

“At this moment he is ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation, but there are also weeks when he is slow.”
