Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that influential playmaker Mesut Ozil will be available for selection again next week, Sky Sports reports.

The Germany international was unexpectedly forced to sit out of Sunday’s clash with Stoke, but Wenger has moved to reassure fans that his absence won’t be a lengthy one, revealing that a minor foot injury kept him on the sidelines.

“He has a foot problem. Inflammation in his foot.” Wenger said.

“But it’s a short-term problem and I would expect him to be back next week.”

However, the 26-year-old has been playing with the problem for some time, but it was never serious enough to keep him out for any significant length of time.

The news will be most welcome to Gunners fans, who are seeing Ozil enjoying some of the best form of his life.

So far, he has chalked up 16 assists is 20 Premier League appearances, and is well on course to break Thierry Henry’s record.
