Dortmund star Julian Weigl has insisted that he has no plans to leave the club amid reported interest from Manchester City.

Having joined the Bundesliga giants last summer, the midfielder has impressed with his composure on the ball as well as with his work ethic which has seen him stand out for the club.

However, despite interest from around Europe, particularly from the Etihad, he is adamant that his future lies with Dortmund.

“I really don’t plan on leaving Borussia. It’s just not an issue for me,” he told Bild.

“I can only stress that I am under contract at BVB until 2019, and I still want to achieve a lot with this club.”

Meanwhile, the links with Manchester City continued after Bayern boss Pep Guardiola revealed that he was a fan of Weigl, and with the Spaniard set for a move to the Premier League at the end of this season, it remains to be seen whether or not he targets the talented youngster in the summer.

Nevertheless, for the time being it appears as though the 20-year-old will continue his development under Thomas Tuchel, while BVB sporting director Michael Zorc will hope to strengthen the squad for the second half of the campaign.

Dortmund sit eight points behind leaders Bayern in the table after 17 games, and it remains to be seen whether or not they can deny Guardiola another title before his departure.
