Jurgen Klopp was asked at a press conference on Tuesday whether Daniel Sturridge could return from injury in this week’s FA Cup replay against Exeter City.
Klopp briefly looked at the journo as if that was the stupidest question he’d ever heard, before delivering the inevitable news.
“No,” he told the room. “No chance for Daniel. He has had a break in training because of some issues. He’s now back training but losing time. But no team training since Newcastle. I don’t know how long it is. This [game] is not a situation we can think about him.”
Sturridge is becoming a joke – one Klopp clearly doesn’t find amusing.
Klopp is a charming man, but he seems to get a little frosty when Sturridge is the topic of conversation.

Klopp prides himself on a high-pressing game, which requires his players to be super fit.
But Sturridge can’t even summon the strength to kick a ball in anger.
Klopp, who reassured the media that he has the final say on transfers, may well try to get rid this summer. But who is going to buy a striker made of glass?
