REVEALED: Anthony Martial’s true cost to Man United could make him a record breaker

Many batted an eyelid or two when Manchester United laid out an initial £38million for Monaco striker Anthony Martial over the summer, but that will be nothing in comparison with the £61.6m they may have to end up paying, according to The Sun.

The French international has been a hit at Old Trafford so far, bagging eight goals as he sets out to repay the transfer fee.

However, The Sun state that documents have been leaked suggesting that United have already paid £15.1m of the initial £38.5m fee, with the remainder due to be coughed up by July 1.

But as well as that, United will owe the League 1 giants an extra £7.7m if Martial scores 25 competitive goals, makes 25 appearances for the France national team, or is shortlisted for the Ballon d’Or.

That all adds up to £61.1million, which would surpass the £59.7million the club paid Real Madrid for Angel Di Maria back in 2014.
