La Liga wonderkid eyed by Liverpool & scouted by Arsenal signs contract

Any hopes Liverpool or Arsenal might have had of signing Athletic Bilbao wonderkid Inaki Williams have been dented as the talented forward has signed a new deal at the Basque giants.

The club revealed on their official Twitter account that the young attacker has signed a new contract at the club which will keep him in Bilbao until June 2021, with Goal noting that he is extending his current deal by four years.

Goal acknowledge that his buyout clause has also been increased by €30 million—from €20 million to €50 million—an augmentation that may dissuade any potential suitors from moving for the talented 21-year-old.

Indeed, Premier League giants Liverpool and Arsenal have both been linked to the forward in recent weeks, with the Daily Mail reporting earlier in January that both sides were competing for the attacker.

According to the tabloid, Jurgen Klopp had been ‘keeping a close eye’ on the young forward—who is eligible for Spain, Ghana and Liberia—while Arsenal sent scouts to watch the youngster during Athletic’s 2-1 victory over Villarreal away from home in the Copa del Rey last week.
