He’s BACK! Potential Arsenal difference-maker returns to training pre-Chelsea bout

Arsenal‘s toil without Francis Coquelin could be set to end this weekend, with the Frenchman back in training ahead of Sunday’s match against Chelsea.

Speaking ahead of the heavyweight Premier League clash—which pits the current leaders against the reigning champions—Arsene Wenger has revealed that Coquelin has returned to full training.

“Coquelin is back in full training today and he is ahead of schedule,” the French manager began, as per the club’s official website. “He still has a few steps to go through.”

The manager’s comments would suggest that while it’s highly unlikely that the anchor man will feature for Sunday’s heavyweight clash, Gunners fans won’t have to wait too long to see the former Charlton Athletic loanee back in action.

The midfielder was injured at the end of November in a league defeat to West Bromwich Albion, with Wenger revealing soon afterwards that his tenacious star would likely face three months out on the sidelines.

While the news initially represented a major blow for the Gunners, who had a dearth of tough-tackling alternatives, they have coped surprisingly well without the 24-year-old and, with Egypt international Mohamed Elneny joining the club in January, they now have a surfeit of midfielders who can offer grit and dynamism as well as technical skills and ball control.
