Guardiola to Man City a DONE DEAL, says tabloid, despite Manchester United hotel rumours

According to the Daily Star, Manchester United have missed out on signing Pep Guardiola, with the Bayern Munich coach destined for Manchester City.

The tabloid have noted that the Red Devils hierarchy are being deterred from moving for the Spanish coach due to a conviction that the manager has already agreed a deal with City.

Indeed, United are wary of being humiliated by moving for the high-profile coach only to learn that he’s committed to joining their fierce city rivals.

Both heavyweights have been linked with a move for the ex-Barcelona manager, with reports on Thursday suggesting that United officials—convinced that a deal with City had not yet been struck—had arranged to meet with Guardiola in a Paris hotel in order to discuss a move.

However, the club denied those rumours [as per BBC Sport] and are understood now to not be planning any approach for the Spanish manager.

This suggestion was affirmed by Spanish football expert Guillem Balague, who has insisted that the rumours of a covert meeting in Paris are false, because Pep is already destined for the Etihad Stadium.

“On Pep and United. It is false they have met in Paris,” the pundit tweeted. “As a friend just told me, why would United meet the next City manager?”
