Manchester United have been dealt a big injury blow with the news that winger-cum-full-back Ashley Young has been ruled out of this weekend’s clash with Southampton and manager Louis van Gaal expects him to be out for “a long time,” according to the Metro.
The 30-year-old was hauled off during the 1-0 win over Liverpool recently after suffering a groin injury during the first half.
And though initial thoughts were that it wasn’t as bad as first feared, manager Louis van Gaal has now confirmed that it is serious enough for him to require an operation.
“Young last week suffered a severe groin injury and has to have an operation so he will be out for a long time,” LvG revealed in his latest press conference.
“It is not just a month or so but longer I think, and we already have big problems in the full-back positions.”
