Liverpool’s pursuit of Shakhtar Donetsk attacker Alex Teixeira has taken an interesting development today courtesy of the Brazilian’s social media activity.

Alex Teixeira has teased excited Liverpool fans by liking an Instagram picture of himself in full Reds kit.

We have been strongly linked with the Brazilian forward and Ian Ayre was reportedly in Florida – where Shakhtar Donetsk are having a training camp – this week to discuss a potential transfer.

There seems to be a big difference in the respective valuations of the 26-year-old. We are apparently willing to pay about £24.6m for Teixeira but the Ukrainian club are holding out for £39m.

The story developed yesterday with reports that Teixeira had asked Shakhtar to sanction a move to Anfield – and the player now seems to have encouraged all parties to get a deal done.

A picture edited to show Teixeira in full Liverpool gear was doing the rounds on social media, and an official account believed to be run by the player liked all.about.liverpool’s Instagram post.

It did not take long for the Twitter Kop to notice and start getting giddy! I don’t blame them – Teixeira is a quick and skilful attacker with an eye for goal and would be perfect for us.
