Video: Stones gifts Swansea a penalty as porous Everton concede yet again

John Stones and Tim Howard contrived to give Swansea the lead at Goodison Park this Sunday afternoon, with the two combining to gift the Swans an early penalty.

Everton have been leaking like a sieve this season, with only five teams in the Premier League conceding more goals so far. The quality they have up front has been keeping them afloat, but defensive mistakes continuously creep into their game.

The latest error came courtesy of John Stones, whose shocking back pass was snatched upon by Andre Ayew. The young defender has looked a little overconfident at the back recently, and once again was careless on the ball. He put Howard in real trouble with his tame pass, and the American shot-stopper brought down Ayew after being narrowly beaten to the ball.

Gylfi Sigurdsson stepped up, and unsurprisingly smashed the ball past Howard and into the top corner to make it 1-0.

Gareth Barry leveled it up shortly after from a corner, but their lead didn’t last too long. Swansea stormed ahead once again through Ayew, whose shot was deflected off Stones and past Howard.

The Swans haven’t been scoring a huge amount this season, but with a new manager at the helm they’ll be hoping to change their fortunes. Everton don’t look like fixing their defensive issues any time soon though, much to the annoyance of the fans.
