Arsenal outcast set to complete loan move to Premier League rivals this week

Forgotten Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy is set to complete a loan move to Premier League strugglers Aston Villa this week, according to reports in French publication L’Equipe.

The France international will link up with the Villans on loan for the remainder of the season, though the report states that he has rejected the opportunity to join the club permanently at the end of the season.

Debuchy is desperate for more regular playing time ahead of this summer’s European Championships, and knows that the only way he’ll make it into Didier Deschamps’ side is if he gets more minutes under his belt.

Villa have undergone a slight revival under manager Remi Garde recently, and they are now unbeaten to five games, and though they are still heavily tipped to go down, Garde is keen to bring in some extra quality in the hope of building on this run and extending it as far as it will go.
