Real Madrid slap £63m asking price on South American Manchester United transfer target

Manchester United will have to cough up £63 million if they are to save James Rodriguez from his relative inactivity at Real Madrid.

The Colombian playmaker had reportedly grown frustrated with life at the Bernabeu under Rafael Benitez, and despite the former Liverpool coach’s departure, it’s hard to know exactly where James fits in in the Spanish capital, where Zinedine Zidane has had to juggle a series of fine attacking players including Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Isco.

United, struggling for goals, creativity and inspiration this season, are understood to be keen on the player, and suggestions of a successful approach have been lent weight by rumours that Zidane is unimpressed with the South American’s attitude.

According to the Express, super-agent James Rodriguez has been in touch with United about a potential move for Rodriguez, although the Red Devils will have to part with £63 million in order to sign the 24-year-old.
