Liverpool REJECTED on second bid for 22-goal striker target

Between injuries to Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge as well as the underperforming of Christian Benteke, the Liverpool forward position is in serious need of a boost. Unfortunately for the Reds, they may not be able to get their ideal target Alex Teixeira for the price they want.

According to the Daily Mail, Shakhtar Donetsk have turned down the latest bid for Teixeira – believed to be in the area of £28 million. Liverpool previously submitted an offer of £24.5 million which was also rejected last week.

Teixeira scored 22 goals in 15 appearances with the Ukranian giants. He also has three goals in the Champions League. Last season Teixeira scored 17 goals for the club and was the top goal scorer in the Ukranian Premier League.

Per the source, Chelsea and Bayern Munich have also expressed interest in the Brazilian attacker.

Teixeira was quoted by a Brazilian newspaper in which he confessed that he was interested in leaving Shakhtar Donetsk. He also noted that he was aware that Liverpool and Chelsea were interested in him.

‘I would like to move in this transfer window and have told them [Shakhtar] that,” Teixeira told Globo Esporte.

‘They have received a very good offer and they are working on a solution. But if I don’t go now then I will leave in the summer.

‘After six years in Europe and with Shakhtar we are ready to move and I have spoken to my wife and daughter.

‘It is my desire to move to a big league and I know that the English league is very strong. I am ready and I know that I will grow up a lot there.

‘I am aware that two big clubs such as Liverpool and Chelsea are interested but I haven’t given my word to either of them.’
