Arsenal ace urges side to put misery of Chelsea defeat behind them

Following their 1-0 loss to Chelsea on Sunday, Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has called on his teammates to bounce back quickly in order to get their Premier League title push back on track.

The Gunners had Per Mertesacker sent off after 18 minutes against the Blues, before Diego Costa scored the only goal of the game just minutes later.

As a result, Arsenal now sit three points adrift of Leicester City who are top of the table, but they will have to switch their focus to the FA Cup this weekend ahead of returning to league action against Southampton on February 2.

“We are only three points off the lead and have Leicester and Southampton at home coming up,” Cech told Arsenal’s official website. “They are difficult games but if we can keep winning our games, we can go back to the top.”

Arsene Wenger conceded after the game that the squad was downbeat after heading into the clash with big big expectations. Nevertheless, the Frenchman will have to improve the atmosphere within the group in the coming days to ensure that they don’t suffer further disappointment.

Arsenal are without a win in their last three games having drawn with Liverpool and Stoke City previous to the Chelsea result, and they will undoubtedly begin to start feeling the pressure unless they can bounce back immediately.

Wenger did receive a huge boost with the return of Alexis Sanchez on Sunday, and he will hope that the Chilean can spearhead an upturn in form for his side as they continue to compete on various fronts.
