Arsenal trying to sign £49.6m Serie A striker

Arsenal have been looking into a variety of different strikers since the summer but have not added a single forward to their first team in nearly a year. That could change if Arsenal are successful in their bid for Juventus striker Alvaro Morata.

According to the Metro, Arsenal have made contact with Morata’s people in hopes of completing a transfer move before the end of the January transfer window. Per the source, Morata is believed to have a valuation of £49.6 million and has also been pursued by Liverpool.

Morata was a star for Real Madrid Castilla from 2010 to 2013 in between stints with the Real Madrid first team. He had eight La Liga goals in the 2013-14 season and moved to Juventus the following season.

In the 2014-15 season, Morata scored eight goals and was named to the UEFA Champions League Squad of the Season.

This season, however, Morata has been utilized far less – starting just eight matches and being subbed in 11 times. He has three goals in all competitions but has not scored since October.
